The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Unit is seeking motivated individuals to join the ranks of this highly dedicated all-volunteer Unit.  Reserve Deputies are certified peace officers and provide vital support to the Sheriff’s Office by working in Patrol, Detentions, and special events throughout the county.

On Tuesday, February 21, at approximately 5:00 PM, officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a home in the 2900 block of Illinois Ave in search of a suspect wanted on felony domestic violence charges.  Upon arrival, a person matching the description of the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle with officers in pursuit.

Sheriff's Office Looking for Additional Victims in Criminal Mischief Case

On Saturday, February 18, 2017, at approximately 9:32 PM, Deputies were dispatched to the 7700 block of Bullet Road in reference to a Criminal Mischief.  The reporting party stated he reviewed surveillance footage from his home and discovered that at approximately 9:00 PM, someone had thrown eggs at his residence causing damage to the house.

Sheriff's Office Looking for Additional Victims and Information in Theft Case

Local law enforcement authorities are seeking the public's assistance with a contractor fraud investigation. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado Springs Police Department are conducting a joint investigation into the practices of Innovative Roofing and Construction, owned by Jeff Masias.

As reported earlier, Masias is currently wanted on one count of felony theft; however, additional charges may be added as numerous additional victims have been identified.

Sheriff's Office Communications Center Recognized as an Accredited Center of Excellence in Emergency Medical Dispatch

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center has again been recognized by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch as an Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) in the area of Emergency Medical Dispatch. 

This Accreditation requires the Communications Center to meet the highest standards in medical dispatch and pre-arrival care of our citizens through certification, continuing education and consistent quality review.

El Paso County Sheriff's Office and Colorado Springs Police Department Announces First Spanish Citizens' Academy

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) and Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) are now accepting applications for the first-ever Spanish Citizens’ Academy.

The Citizens’ Academy will begin on Saturday, March 18, 2017, and will be held every other Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  The Academy will be conducted over a four-day period, culminating in a graduation ceremony on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

Sheriff's Office Provides Update to West Colorado Homicide Investigation

On December 12, 2016, members of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 3400 block of West Colorado Avenue, regarding a medical alert.  Upon arrival, law enforcement found Michael Dorland DOB 12/13/58 with multiple injuries from an apparent assault.
 
Mr. Dorland was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.   On December 28, 2016, Mr. Dorland succumbed to complications related to his injuries.  The death was ruled a homicide.
 

Sheriff's Office Warns of Phone Scam Using Sheriff’s Office Address

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has received intelligence of another scam.  In these new cases the caller is informing victims that they are in trouble for missing jury duty and  need to pay a fine.  They are directing the caller to pay the fine at the Office of the Sheriff located at 27 East Vermijo Avenue.

On Thursday, January 5, 2017, the Colorado Springs Police Department's Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU) established surveillance in the 800 block of Chapman Drive in search of a juvenile male wanted on multiple violent crime felony warrants.  At 3:00 PM, the officers encountered the armed suspect and shots were fired.

The juvenile male suspect is sixteen years old and still undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

Colorado Avenue.  When deputies arrived on scene, they found a victim, Michael Dorland DOB: 12/13/58, who had sustained multiple injuries from an apparent assault.

On Thursday, December 8, 2016, at approximately 5:20 PM, two suspects fraudulently charged $246.52 on a Chase Visa Credit Card at the Nordstrom’s Store located at 7645 N Academy Blvd, Colorado Springs.

The credit card was possibly compromised when the victim used their credit card to pay for gas at two different gas stations a few days prior.

The first suspect is an unknown male, 5’10—6’0, black baseball cap, gray Hurley hooded sweatshirt.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects involved in the theft of a delivery package.  On Sunday, December 18, 2016, at approximately 2:15 PM, two females were seen walking east in front of the victim’s home located in the 4000 block of Silver Star Grove in Widefield.

On Thursday, December 15, 2016, a residence in the 6000 block of Passing Sky Dr. in Security was burglarized.   The suspects made entry through a broken out basement window. They were captured on a “Ring Doorbell” video at 9:55 AM, approximately ten minutes prior to the motion sensor on the back window alerting the homeowner who was not home. Small electronics, jewelry, and sunglasses were stolen.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Ryan W. Flint, DOB 08/20/93. He was last heard from on December 7, and last seen in northeast El Paso County prior to that. 

Mr. Flint is white male, 5’06, 130lbs, brown hair and brown eyes.  He is known to be driving a white 1999 Nissan Altima sedan, bearing Colorado license plate #QOF032.  There is a concern for Mr. Flint’s safety.

On November 23, 2016, between the hours of 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM, a vehicle was broken into while parked at the northeast lot of Fox Run Park off Roller Coaster. The front passenger window was broken out, and the victim’s purse was stolen.

Security Homicide Victim Identified

On Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at approximately 7:00 PM, the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired at the Marquette Heights Apartments, in the 500 block of Security Blvd in Security.

When Deputies arrived on scene, they found a male deceased with multiple gunshot wounds.

On November 3, 1986, at 11:13 a.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to human remains found 4 miles west of Interstate 25, in the Midway Ranch area. Found with the remains were pieces of Calvin Klein denim jeans size 30/33, bluish/green colored sweatshirt and a 1” wide brown leather belt. No identification was found.

Sheriff's Office Asking for Help in Identifying Suspect in Check and Credit Card Fraud Case

On May 3, 2016, the Sheriff's Office received a call regarding a fraud occurring at the 7200 block of Baker Road, in El Paso County, Colorado.

The victim stated that she just recently discovered that her checking account with ANB Bank had been compromised and her check book for that account was missing.  Approximately $6,200 has been written in checks from her account since 03/19/16. 

Hostage Situation Upgraded to Homicide

On Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at approximately12:45 AM, Deputies responded to a Domestic Violence call in the 5100 block of Harrington Drive.  The reporting party and stated her younger sibling was still inside the residence and there were guns in the home. 

When Deputies arrived on scene they were able to locate the sibling and get him out of the home safely.

Sheriff's Office Makes Arrest in Attempted Murder Case

On Sunday, November 6, 2016, at approximately 5:00 PM, the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received several calls regarding a vehicle on fire possibly related to a domestic violence situation in the 1300 block of Forest Road in the Stratmoor Hills area.

When Deputies and Fire personnel arrived on scene they found a vehicle on fire and two females with burn injuries.   The two females were transported to a local hospital for treatment and both are in stable condition.
