After years of planning, today, El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal led the groundbreaking effort for the future Sheriff’s Office substation in the Falcon area of unincorporated El Paso County.

Last Thursday, during a graduation ceremony at Pulpit Rock Church in Colorado Springs, El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal administered the oath of office to 27 members of his inaugural Posse, Class 25-1.

This morning at the Pioneers Museum in downtown Colorado Springs, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Jeremy Juhl, who leads the Mounted Unit, accepted a commemorative token on behalf of Sheriff Joseph Roybal. 

Today, nearly 40 goats will begin clearing approximately three acres of invasive weeds near the El Paso County Jail.

El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal issued the following statement in response to the Pearl Street Mall attack in Boulder, Colorado:

On May 24, 2025, at approximately 4:50 a.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting individuals breaking into vehicles in the 2300 block of Klein Place, located in the Cimarron Hills area of unincorporated El Paso County.

As of May 28, 2025, 139 sentenced inmates (post-trial) are currently housed at the El Paso County Jail. These individuals await available bed space within the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC).

Last week, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office proudly hosted the Level I Regional Mounted Unit Academy at the Norris Penrose Event Center in El Paso County, Colorado.

Today, El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal released information regarding individuals who have been transferred to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) since January 2025, from the El Paso County Jail.
