The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is investigating an auto break-in incident that occurred on February 16, 2022 in the late afternoon hours. The victim's vehicle was parked near the intersection of Lindbergh Road and Schilling Avenue near the Town of Monument in unincorporated El Paso County.
Sheriff's Deputies Respond to Plane Crash East of Falcon
On April 3, 2022, just before 6:00 PM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received reports of a small plane crash near a runway at the Meadow Lake Airport located at 12850 East Highway 24 in unincorporated El Paso County. This airport is located just east of Falcon on the east side of Highway 24.
Sheriff’s Office Investigates Early Morning Shooting In Security/Widefield
On April 3, 2022, just after 5:00 AM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received multiple 911 calls from citizens reporting a shooting outside of a residence in the 6000 block of Metropolitan Street. This is in a dense residential neighborhood located in Security/Widefield in unincorporated El Paso County.
Deputies Save Life Of Woman Who Overdosed On Fentanyl
On March 23, 2022, just before 6:00 PM, a citizen called 911 to report a person at a residence in the 500 block of Security Boulevard overdosed after ingesting Fentanyl. This address is in the densely populated Security/Widefield area of unincorporated El Paso County. Members of the Security Fire Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the scene.
El Paso County Jail Inmate Who Died of Medical Emergency Identified
On March 25, 2022, around 4:00 p.m., a male inmate in the El Paso County Jail died while in custody. The inmate was found unresponsive in his assigned cell. Life saving measures were initiated by Sheriff's Office personnel and medical staff until responders from American Medical Response (AMR) and responders from the Colorado Springs Fire Department arrived and took over. Despite life saving measures, the inmate passed away.
Sheriff's Office Seeks Public's Help Identifying Fuel Theft Suspect
On March 24, 2022, just before 2:00 AM, a heavy-set white male with long brown hair and a beard and wearing light blue jeans, a dark hoodie, and gray shoes was observed on surveillance video siphoning gasoline from several vehicles parked at the "A Good Mechanic" auto repair business located at 1 Widefield Boulevard in the Security/Widefield area of unincorporated El Paso County.
El Paso County Jail Inmate Who Died of Medical Emergency Identified
On March 17, 2022, around 2:22 p.m., a female inmate in the El Paso County Jail died while in custody. The inmate was found unresponsive in her assigned cell. She passed despite life saving measures by on scene personnel, responders from American Medical Response (AMR) and responders from the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
The inmate has been identified as Laura Gibbs, age 41. We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Ms. Gibbs’ family and friends.

Sheriff's Office Looking for Assistance in Identifying Suspect in Criminal Trespass Auto Case
On February 16, 2022 between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM, at Lindbergh Road and Schilling Avenue in unincorporated El Paso County. The victim’s rear passenger window was broken and their purse was stolen near the Mount Herman Trailhead.
The victim’s credit cards were used at multiple locations in the area, to include King Soopers at 4:16 PM, 7-Eleven at 4:29 PM, Loaf-N-Jug at 4:36 PM, and Subway at 4:41 PM.
Sheriff’s Office Seeks Assistance in Locating a Missing Juvenile and Mother
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help with locating 12 year-old Kaydence Reaume. She is described as a white female who is 5’2” tall, weighs 140 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes.
Sheriff's Office Seeks Public's Assistance in Locating Suspect
On February 22, 2022, just after 2:30 PM, a suspect, stole a package from the porch of a home located in the 4000 block of Ruby Drive which is located in an unincorporated area of El Paso County adjacent to Austin Bluffs Parkway and Old Farm Drive. The value of the item taken is $17,000.00.

On March 17, 2022, around 2:22 p.m., a female inmate in the El Paso County Jail died while in custody. The inmate was found unresponsive in her assigned cell. She passed despite life saving measures by on scene personnel, responders from American Medical Response (AMR) and responders from the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
The identity of the deceased female will not be released until the Coroner's Office makes positive identification and the next of kin is notified.
Sheriff’s Office Makes Felony Arrests And Recovers Stolen Vehicle
On March 16, 2022, just before 3:00 AM, EPSO Patrol Division Deputies were alerted to the presence of a suspicious vehicle parked in the 700 block of Valley Street by an observant citizen. This is a dense commercial area in the Cimarron Hills district of unincorporated El Paso County. Upon arriving on scene Deputies determined fictitious license plates were attached to the vehicle and the vehicle itself was previously reported stolen.
Sheriff’s Office Investigates Officer Involved Shooting on North Circle Drive
On Monday, March 7, 2022, around 9:30 a.m., officers of the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) began an investigation into the whereabouts of a suspect wanted for attempted homicide out of Ripley, Mississippi.
Officers obtained information to the location of the suspect in Colorado Springs.
Sheriff's Office Investigates Armed Robbery
On March 5, 2022, around 11:07 a.m., the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a call from several individuals reporting a shooting at a pawn shop located in the 300 block of Main Street.
An additional caller said the male suspects ran away from the pawn shop toward a department store in the same area. Another caller said the suspects loaded up into a gray Honda sedan with temporary license plates and left the area north on Security Boulevard.

We request you contact your local Fire Protection District or Department before engaging in any open burning that has been allowed in the past. Our county has various topographical features where some terrain may experience large amounts of moisture, but other portions remain dry and may have a higher risk of fire.

On February 25, 2022, at around 1:47 a.m., the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call from a residence located in the 800 block of Meadow Lane in Palmer Lake reporting a stabbing. The reporting party said the neighbor broke into their house and attacked them with a knife.
A Palmer Lake Police Department officer and an El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputy responded to the address.

On February 19, 2022, just before 9:30 AM, a woman reported to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Dispatch she was robbed of her purse and assaulted at the Loaf 'N' Jug convenience store located at 6695 Galley Road. This address is in the Cimarron Hills area of unincorporated El Paso County.

On February 15, 2022, just after 8:00 PM, a male inmate in the El Paso County Jail died while in custody. The inmate had been escorted to the medical section for a possible medical issue and became unresponsive. He passed despite life saving measures by on scene personnel and responders from American Medical Response (AMR).
The inmate has been identified as Sean Williams, age 32. We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Mr. Williams’ family and friends.
Sheriff's Office Seeks Assistance Identifying Robbery Suspect
On February, 6, 2022, at around 6:30 AM, a man entered the Circle K convenience store located at 1801 Main Street in the Security/Widefield area of unincorporated El Paso County and demanded the clerk turn over money from the cash register. The suspect indicated he had a weapon but none was observed. He then departed the store after receiving the cash.
Sheriff's Office Addresses Changes Within Wildland Fire Team
Colorado law mandates that the El Paso County Sheriff‘s office provide wildland fire management. The Sheriff’s Office fulfills this obligation through a combination of paid staff and volunteer members who comprise the El Paso County Wildland Fire Team. These amazing people come from all walks of life and are dedicated to the preservation of lives and properties. Currently, we have four paid employees and 15 volunteers.

On February 16, 2022, just before 4:00 AM, an unidentified suspect trespassed into the garage of a home located in the 17000 block of Blue Mist Grove (located in a residential neighborhood of unincorporated El Paso County just south of Monument). Once inside, he stole several items of value from inside a vehicle parked therein.
