On August 26, 2020, at approximately 11:37 AM, the El Paso Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding a plane crash in the 6000 block of McCandlish Road. The caller stated the aircraft appeared to be attempting to land when it flipped over and came to rest upside down.

Multiple units from the Sheriff's Office and Falcon Fire Department responded and found an unidentified pilot, inside the aircraft, deceased. The pilot was the only person in the plane when it went down. The plane was on fire at the time of the crash and was extinguished by Falcon FD prior to the arrival of deputies.

The pilot has been identified as 46-year-old John O'Dell. We would like to express our deepest sympathies to Mr. O'Dell's family and friends.

The Federal Aviation Administration will be the investigating agency and will address any future inquires for this incident.
