Update: Sheriff’s Office Investigates Officer Involved Shooting

On Thursday, January 5, 2017, elements of the Colorado Springs Police Department Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU) established surveillance in the 800 block of Chapman Dr,  in search of a juvenile male wanted on multiple violent crime felony warrants.  At 3:00 PM, the officers encountered the armed suspect and shots were fired. 

The suspect was seriously wounded and transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.  No law enforcement officers were injured.  There is no current threat to the community regarding this event. 

In accordance with Colorado Revised Statute 16-2.5-301,  the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigative agency for this officer involved deadly force incident.
