Tips in the Timothy Watkins Homicide and Biking/Hiking Safety Tips

Sep 20, 2017 - 9:00am

The Sheriff's Office is aggressively investigating the homicide of Timothy Watkins.  To date we have received over 150 messages.  We will be following up on every tip that comes in, whether through our Dispatch Center, Tip Line or through our external website.

Every tip is important, and please be aware we may not be contacting each individual who leaves one.

We also wanted to take this opportunity to relay some biking and hiking safety tips:

Never go alone, use the buddy system.

Always tell someone where you are going and when you anticipate being back.

Know your route and stick to your route.

Take a fully charged cell phone with you.

Remain aware of your surroundings at all times.

Report anything suspicious to law enforcement immediately.

We are encouraging the residents of the Palmer Lake area to continue to be vigilant.  If anyone sees anything suspicious or out of the ordinary, please contact the Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center at 719-390-5555 or call the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 719-520-6666.

Any information deemed official will be coming from the Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer.
