The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Provides Update on Carson Midway Fire

Mar 18, 2018 - 6:14am

The Carson Midway Fire is now 100% contained except for tires that are burning in the 20800 block of Prairie Fire Point.  The El Paso County OEM Hazardous Material Team is actively working that fire.

Fire Personnel from within El Paso County, Pueblo County and Ft. Carson will continue to monitor and attack hot spots today in the fire zone. The El Paso County Deputy Fire Warden is now overseeing operations.

There are only few homes that remain evacuated near the 20800 block of Prairie Fire Point. For those who can't return home, please feel free to contact the Red Cross for services or assistance at (800)-417-0495. Red Cross case workers will also be available at the chapter office today to provide additional assistance as needed. The chapter office is located at 1040 S. 8th Street, in Colorado Springs.

For those residents that have returned home, El Paso County Public Health is available to provide aid with fire clean up and re-entry guidelines.  Please visit www.elpasocountyhealth.org  for more information.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.  Updates will come from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office as they become available.
