Suspect Identified in Officer Involved Shooting on Forest Hill Road

On Saturday, May 18, 2019, at approximately 5:30 PM, officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a domestic disturbance at an address in the 4200 block of Forest Hill Road.  A male suspect barricaded himself inside the residence.   The Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU) was activated and responded to the scene.  During the incident, the suspect fired at officers, and at least one officer returned fire.
 
The suspect succumbed to his injuries on scene and was identified as 29-year-old Sean Collins.  The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Coroner’s Office once they have all the information to make a ruling. 

The officer involved was placed on routine paid administrative leave in accordance with CSPD Policy.  The name of the officer will be released by the Colorado Springs Police Department at the appropriate time.

In accordance with Colorado Revised Statute 16-2.5-301, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigative agency for this officer involved shooting.  This is an ongoing investigation, and all updates will be only be provided by the Sheriff's Office Public Information Office.
