Social Media Threat closes Ellicott School District

On Sunday, February 21, 2016, at approximately 11:00 PM, the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received information regarding a threat posted on the “After School” chat site involving Ellicott Schools.  “After School” is a group chat site where members can post anonymously to specific school threads.

As a result of this posting, a decision was made by the Ellicott School Superintendant to close the school district on Monday, February 22, 2016.  The Sheriff’s Office has been working with the owners of the “After School” site as part of our investigation. 

The investigation is ongoing.  There is no danger to the school or community at this time.
