Sheriff's Office Seizes Two Horses Deemed Criminally Neglected in El Paso County

On Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at 9:15 AM, deputies with the Rural Enforcement Outreach Unit (REO) executed a search warrant in the 5800 block of Hoss Point in reference to an on-going animal neglect investigation.

Several past attempts to contact the owner of the two emaciated horses were met with negative results.  A search warrant was obtained and executed with the assistance of a veterinarian.

During the execution of the warrant, two horses were found to be emaciated and deemed criminally neglected.  The horses were seized and transported to an approved boarding facility.

The owner of the horses, Dorice Justice was served and released today on two misdemeanor counts of Animal Cruelty.  Ms. Justice relinquished ownership of the horses to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Attached are photos of the horses that were seized.
