Sheriff's Office Responds to Bomb Threat Involving Extortion in the Monument Area

On Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at approximately 10:27AM, Deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a bomb threat involving extortion at the U. S. Brokers Inc, located at 1832 Woodmoor Dr. in Monument. An unknown suspect sent a computer typed note to a printer in the business, demanding a large amount of money to be wired to an account via Western Union. 

As a precaution, surrounding businesses were evacuated and the Regional Explosives Unit responded to investigate.  No explosive device was located.

The Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) was notified and will be the investigating agency as the same note was discovered at the U.S. Brokers Inc. headquarters in another state.  Any further inquires for this incident should be directed to the JTTF.
