Sheriff's Office Looking for Wanted Suspect

On March 25, 2015, at approximately 11:30 AM, Detectives’ with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office were scheduled to meet with Lorenzo Brooks, DOB 12/1/69, and his attorney to serve a Warrant.  As Deputies approached the vehicle, Brooks would not exit his vehicle.  Detectives’ did engage in dialog with Brooks through an open window in which he stated “I am going to die today.”

Brooks proceeded to put his vehicle in reverse striking the passenger side of the Detectives’ vehicle.  Brooks then put the car in drive and struck a civilian vehicle before exiting the parking lot of the 400 block of Cascade Avenue.

Brooks is described as a black male who is 6’1” tall, weighing 205lbs.  He is bald and has a thin build.  He was driving a gold Chevy Impala, which he abandoned in a parking lot behind Southgate Plaza.

Brooks is wanted for Sexual Assault, Failure to Appear and now has charges of Felony Eluding, Criminal Mischief and Hit and Run, stemming from today’s events.
