Sheriff's Office Looking for Public's Assistance in Tim Watkins Homicide

On Saturday September 16, 2017, Palmer Lake Police Department received a call for service of a missing person. A search of the mountainous area of Mount Herman was conducted by members of the community and the El Paso County Search and Rescue Team.

On Sunday September 17, 2017, the remains of an unidentified male were discovered just off the Limbaugh Trail near Mount Herman Road. The remains were later identified as Mr. Timothy Watkins, DOB: 11/17/1956.  An autopsy determined Mr. Watkins had been shot at least one time.

Over the course of the investigation the El Paso County Sheriff’s office has received many tips and conducted follow-up investigation on all tips received. Persons of interest have been identified however, no suspect has been named.

We are asking the community for assistance with any possible information concerning the death of Mr. Timothy Watkins. This case remains an active and open investigation, and all leads will be vetted.
