On March 27, 2023, just before 1:45 am, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a call in reference to a burglary in progress at 800 block Hathaway Dr. located in the Cimmaron Hills area of unincorporated El Paso County. When deputies arrived on scene, they heard shots fired in the immediate area. Shortly thereafter an adult male was discovered on scene with at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Unfortunately,  he succumbed to his injuries. His identity will be confirmed by the El Paso County Coroner's Office.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Investigations Division continues to investigate this incident. We would like to reiterate there is no current threat to the public.
