On Thursday, January 12, 2017, at approximately 9:13 PM, Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department(CSPD) made contact with a suspicious individual in the parking lot of the Arby’s Restaurant, located at  616 W Garden of the Gods Road.  The suspect fired at the officers and the officers returned fire. 

The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.  The officers were uninjured and have been placed on routine administrative leave in accordance with CSPD policy. There is no current threat to the community regarding this event. 

In accordance with Colorado Revised Statute 16-2.5-301, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigative agency for this officer involved deadly force incident. This is an ongoing investigation and information will be released as the investigation allows.
