Sheriff's Office Informs Owner of Rocky Top Resources that Homeless Campers are not Trespassing

Mar 7, 2018 - 4:30pm

On Wednesday, March 7, 2018, the Sheriff's Office along with the Colorado Springs Police Department served a notice to the homeless campers who have been living on the Rocky Top Resources property, that they must vacate by Friday, March 9, 2018.

In our preparation for the moving of the homeless camp, we determined when the owner gave the campers permission to live on his property, it then became a  landlord/tenant relationship and the owner of Rocky Top Resources must now go through a civil process to evict the nearly 100 homeless campers on his property.

The Sheriff's Office is committed to making sure we protect the rights of all citizens in our community.

Sheriff's Office personnel will be available this afternoon at 3:00 PM for anyone who would like more information.
