Sheriff's Office Identifies Suspect in Homicide Cases

On April 14, 2018, at approximately 1:52 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 13500 block of Hobby Horse Lane in reference to a check the welfare and located two deceased adults. The victims were identified as 72-year-old Larry Nelson and 70-year-old Pamela Nelson.

On July 22, 2018, deputies were dispatched to a homicide which occurred in the 12300 block of Highway 94. The victim was identified as 46-year-old Gustavo Del Sol Sanchez. Later the same day, the suspect involved was located in the 19200 block of Loop Road by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team. The suspect, William Bacorn (date of birth: 07/24/1999) shot at an El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputy and in return was shot and killed by one of EPSO's SWAT Team members.
 
While investigating the Del Sol Sanchez homicide, detectives received information which confirmed William Bacorn committed the Nelson homicides. As part of the investigation, forensic testing was conducted on collected evidence from the crime scene by multiple labs to determine if Bacorn was involved and if anyone else was involved. The final round of testing was completed in December of 2022. The testing confirmed Bacorn's involvement and no evidence was found linking any other person to the crime.  

Due to Bacorn's death in 2018, the case has been closed.
