Sheriff's Office DUI Theme Car Event

Memorial Day Weekend is a time to honor the men and women who have died while serving the military. It's also traditionally the weekend that kicks off fun and sun season as many schools are dismissed for the year. Unfortunately, it also marks one of the more dangerous weekends for fatal vehicle accidents, especially those related to impaired driving.

On Wednesday, May 26th at 1:00 PM, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office DUI theme car will be at the Colorado Springs Christian School located at 4845 Mallow Road. We invite members of our community to come by and see the car in person, come talk with us and to take a photo in the driver's seat. This vehicle serves as a visual reminder of our efforts in bringing awareness to concerns related to impaired driving.

The speakers at the event include surviving victims, victim survivors and members of our local law enforcement and military community.

We are honoring the following US Military Veterans killed by impaired drivers:
Detective Jeremy Stephen Bitner, Englewood Police Department and United States Army
Specialist Kale Daren Clay, United States Army
Senior Airman Kristopher G. Mansfield, United States Air Force
Brock Charles Severson, United States Navy
Senior Airman Michael Scott Snyder, United States Air Force
Trooper Taylor Joseph Thyfault, Colorado State Patrol and United States Army

Please remember to keep yourselves and those around you safe. With the multitude of options available to people for not drinking and driving, there is no excuse for driving impaired.
