Sheriff's Office Arrests Suspect Who Breaks into Falcon Walgreens and Starts Fire

On August 28, 2020, at approximately 12:18 AM, the Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a 911 call regarding shots being fired near the Walgreens, located at 7392 McLaughlin Road.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found several shotgun shells and the front sliding glass doors shot out.  Deputies could hear sounds of distress from inside the store, so they made entry.  They found the suspect next to a small fire on the floor near the photo department. Deputies were able to extinguish the fire and detain the suspect.

Through the course of the investigation, it was found the suspect had caused over $7000.00 worth of damage in the store. The Falcon Fire Department responded and conducted an investigation into the arson portion of the scene.

The suspect has been identified as Joseph Golden, DOB: 12/3/84.  Once he was medically cleared, he was booked into the El Paso County Jail on the charges 1st Degree Burglary - Armed with a Weapon, 1st Degree Arson, Criminal Mischief. Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, 3rd Degree Burglary, 1st Degree Criminal Trespass, Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender, Third Degree Assault and Driving Under the Influence.
