Sheriff’s Office Tactical Support Group Takes Prolific Offender Into Custody After Brief Standoff

Jul 6, 2022 - 4:00pm

On June 30, 2022, just after noon, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were notified of an in-progress trespass occurring at a property in the 6800 block of Swan Road in the Black Forest area of unincorporated El Paso County.  When they arrived, they identified the suspect as Quinten Hickey, DOB: 11-19-1996.  Quinten was known to our deputies as a prolific offender and was wanted on several outstanding Felony warrants and whose behavior had recently become increasingly violent.

It was determined that Quinten relocated to a structure on a nearby property in the 6900 block of Juanita Street.  Deputies established containment and ordered Quinten's surrender, but he refused to exit.  As a result, members of the EPSO’s Tactical Support Group (TSG) and K9 Unit responded and assumed control of the scene.  A short time later Quinten surrendered without incident.

Quinton was later booked into the El Paso County Jail on the Felony charges of Vehicular Eluding, First Degree Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, Second Degree Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, Possession of Burglary Tools, and a Parole Violation.  His mug shot is attached to this media release.

The Sheriff’s Office stands committed to serving the safety interests of our community by leveraging the capabilities of our highly skilled, specialized units, such as the TSG and K9, to take violent, wanted felons off the street.
