Sheriff’s Office Makes Arrest in Recent Shots Fired Incident

On December 5, 2022, just before 8:40am, a motorist traveling along Highway 115 in unincorporated El Paso County reported to the Sheriff’s Office Communications Center a passerby in another vehicle fire multiple rounds from a firearm at him.  When deputies arrived on scene, they observed multiple bullet holes in the victim’s vehicle.  There were no injuries.  The suspect fled the scene prior to our deputies’ arrival.
 
Based on evidence discovered on scene and information obtained from the victim, a suspect was quickly identified as Clayton Roberts, DOB: 1-11-1980.  Deputies made contact with him at an address in the City of Colorado Springs and detained him without incident.  The weapon used in the shooting was located on scene and retained in evidence.
 
Roberts was arrested and later booked into the El Paso County Jail on a $10k bond for the Felony charges of Attempted First Degree Assault, Criminal Mischief, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, Menacing, as well as Misdemeanor crimes.  He has since bonded out.  His booking photo is attached to this media release.
