Sheriff’s Office Investigates Shooting in Calhan

On September 15, 2022, around 4:22 p.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call from a citizen reporting a shooting outside of a residence in the 9900 block of Calhan Highway. This is a rural residential area located in Calhan in unincorporated El Paso County.

A Calhan Police Department officer and EPSO deputies arrived on scene and discovered two adults indicating they were just shot at. They sustained no injuries.  

Deputies were additionally able to obtain a detailed description of the suspect who fled back into the residence prior to their arrival. 

After further investigation it was determined the homeowner of the residence believed someone was stealing his mail. At the time of the incident, one of the victims was working as a contracted employee of the United States Post Office delivering mail. The vehicle utilized was not marked with markings to indicate the service provided. 

The suspect, Stephen Teague (date of birth, 03/23/1976), was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Jail on the charges of Felony Menacing with a Deadly Weapon and Misdemeanor Menacing, his mug shot is attached to this media release.
