On Thursday, March 15, 2018, at approximately 10:43 am, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office received several reports of a vehicle fire in the area of Avenida Hermosa View and Boca Chica Heights.  Numerous departments from surrounding jurisdictions responded with fire personnel, emergency medical personnel and traffic control.

Due to the windy conditions, the fire spread rapidly towards homes and several out buildings.  Evacuations were ordered for homes a half mile from the 21,000 block of Boca Chica Heights.  Homes outside of the half mile radius were put on pre-evacuation orders.

The fire is now contained with fire personnel conducting mop up operations.  The fire spread to approximately 78 acres in size.  Two vehicles and a motorhome were fully consumed by the fire.  A home and two outbuildings received fire damage but were not lost.  All evacuation orders have been lifted.  There were no injuries. 

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigator responded to the scene and will investigate the cause of the fire.  This is an active investigation and further information will be released as the investigation allows.
