On October 24, 2017, a 72-year-old male in custody at the El Paso County Jail was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 0500 hours.  Lifesaving efforts were conducted both by in- house personnel and medical first responders.  They were unable to resuscitate the male and he was pronounced deceased at 0528 hours. 

An autopsy is being performed and the Coroner’s Office will be notifying the next-of-kin.  There were no apparent signs of foul play.  Details pertaining to this incident will not be released at this time.  Additional information may be released as it becomes available.
