El Paso Teller 9-1-1 Authority Awards 13 year old as 9-1-1 Hero

Nov 15, 2019 - 7:30am

On September 14, 2019, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office call taker, Janell Peralta, answered a 9-1-1 call from a twelve (now thirteen) year old girl.  This brave individual called 9-1-1 when her mother began experiencing some medical issues and was unable to call.

She accurately provided her address, phone number, and explained what happened.  She answered all of Janell’s questions and remained on the line. She was kind and patient with Janell throughout the call.  She even asked some clarification questions when she didn’t understand Janell’s questions.  She followed all of Janell’s medical instructions before the fire department and ambulance arrived.

This young lady did exactly what she was supposed to do during an emergency by calling 9-1-1.  For her ability to remain calm and follow instructions during a medical emergency, the El Paso-Teller County 9-1-1 Authority along with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office would like to recognize Stella Overbagh as a 9-1-1 Hero.
