El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Workforce Outfitted with New Tasers

Jul 10, 2019 - 10:32am

Starting this month, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will issue the new model TASER 7 to selected sworn members and County Security Officers.  With the discontinuation of the previously issued Taser X26, Sheriff Elder and his staff have made the decision to change to the newest model.  The TASER 7 offers improved technology and usability that gives our workforce an upgraded tool to de-escalate dangerous situations safely.

All Sheriff’s Office personnel will complete online and live classroom training on its proper use prior to being issued the new equipment.

“Our workforce encounters dangerous and difficult circumstances every day.  It is essential they have the right tools and training to ensure the safety of our citizens and themselves.  The use of tasers provides an alternative to deadly force.  Tasers can, when used properly and with the right training, provide this non-deadly alternative. “Sheriff Bill Elder

The media is invited to see a demonstration of the TASER7 and conduct interviews on Thursday, July 11, 2019, 10:00 am, at the Office of the Sheriff, 27 E Vermijo Avenue, 1st Floor.
