California Abducted Children Found Safe and Unharmed, Mother Arrested

On Sunday, November 4, 2018, an Amber Alert was issued for 11-year-old Priscilla Penaloza and 1-year-old Alexander Penaloza, who police say was taken by their mother, Diana Moreira, during a supervised visit in San Jose, California.  They were reported to be in a grey 2012 Mini Cooper sedan driving to the Colorado Springs area.

Today, November 5, 2018, at approximately 11:11 AM, the Sheriff’s Office received a tip that the mother and children were at an address in the 16,200 block of Mountain Plain Dr. Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies, SWAT and crisis negotiators responded to the address and were able to take Diana Moreira into custody without incident.  Both children were found safe and unharmed.

Ms. Moreira will be transported and booked into the Criminal Justice Center Jail on an outstanding felony warrant out of San Jose California for Kidnapping. 

The Sheriff’s Office will continue to assist and cooperate with the San Jose Police Department regarding this case.
