Black Forest Fire 10 Year Anniversary

Jun 2, 2023 - 3:40pm

June 11, 2023, marks the ten-year anniversary of the tragic Black Forest Fire.  Several agencies collaborated with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the fire; amongst these agencies were the U.S. Forest Service, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office and the Aurora Fire Department.

Although the origin of the fire is known, the cause has not been determined.  The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office considers this a cold case as it has been many years since any new information was received or developed. We remain committed to pursuing any new information or tips which may surface.

We ask members of the community who may have new information regarding the Black Forest Fire to call the Sheriff's Office Tip Line at 719-520-7777.
