Barricaded Suspect Taken into Custody Without Incident

Nov 20, 2018 - 9:15am

On November 20, 2018, at approximately 8:30 AM, the Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center received a call regarding a fight between a male and female outside a residence in the 14100 block of Albatross Drive.  When deputies arrived on scene a female was observed to have an injured and bleeding hand.  The female stated the male was barricaded inside the residence with their two-year old child.

Attempts to contact the suspect at the front door were not successful; he could be heard yelling unintelligibly from inside the residence.  Numerous attempts to call and text the suspect, as well as PA announcements asking for him to surrender were not successful.

A partial contingent of SWAT was activated and responded to the scene.  A warrant was obtained authorizing entry into the home.  While tactically searching the home, the suspect was determined to be inside the basement behind a closed door with the child.  After numerous loud verbal commands, he opened the door and was holding the child.  The child was retrieved, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect has been identified as Bradley Knighton, DOB: 12-17-88.  He has been booked into the Criminal Justice Center Jail on the charges of Third Degree Assault, Harassment and Child Abuse.

A mug shot of Knighton is attached to this media release.
