Barricaded Suspect Taken into Custody on Peterson Road

On January 22, 2020 at approximately 6:29 AM, the Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a call regarding a person threatening parties while inflicting self-harm in a motel room.  This incident occurred in the 600 block of Peterson Road.

Patrol units arrived on scene and set up containment.  They also began evacuating residents of the motel for their safety.

Based on the nature of the call, the suspect's known history with law enforcement, the potential of the suspect being armed, and his refusal to exit the residence, SWAT was paged out and took control of the scene at approximately 7:56 AM.  The Sheriff's Office Crisis Negotiations Unit were also on scene.  

At approximately 9:18 AM, the suspect was taken into custody without incident. 

The suspect has been identified as William Hinde, DOB 11/02/1976.  He will be booked into the El Paso County Jail on active warrants for Vehicular Eluding, Reckless Endangerment, Controlled Substance Possession Schedule 1 & 2, Third Degree Assault, Probation Violation and Failure to Comply on two cases.  He will be facing charges from today's incident one of which is Felony Menacing involving Domestic Violence.
