On Thursday, August 25, 2016, deputies responded to the 8200 block of Fort Smith Road in Falcon, regarding a call to assist an outside agency.  During the course of our investigation we learned the victim's wife came home and found her husband, David Stechman laying on the floor covered in blood.  Fire and Medical units responded and CPR was performed without success.  The death of David Stechman was ruled a homicide by the El Paso County Coroner.

Earlier in the evening on Thursday, August 25, 2016, Timothy Hagins had been arrested and booked into the Criminal Justice Center on the charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder, First Degree Burglary, Third Degree Assault and Criminal Mischief as part of a separate incident.  After a thorough investigation by Detectives with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office it was determined Timothy Hagins, DOB: 1-6-82 was responsible for the death of David Stechman and has been served a warrant for First Degree Murder and First Degree Burglary.

A photo of Hagins is attached to this Media Release.  Again, we would like express our deepest condolences to the Stechman family during this most difficult time.
