April Statistics for Illegal Marijuana Enforcement, Behavioral Health Program and Jail Population

In the month of April, the Sheriff’s Office Rural Enforcement and Outreach Unit (REO), SWAT and Metro Vice and Narcotics and Intelligence (MVINI) executed a search warrant in one of the largest illegal marijuana cultivations operations in El Paso County.  Investigators seized 758 illegal marijuana plants.

The Sheriff's Office co-hosted an intense week-long Crisis Intervention Training with the Colorado Springs Police Department and National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).  The training equipped 29 sworn and civilian law enforcement personnel from the Sheriff's Office and surrounding agencies with the knowledge on how to respond, de-escalate and divert a situation involving a mental health crisis in our community.
 El Paso County Jail Population and Inmate Assaults on Inmates and Staff April 2019 Statistics:
• Average Daily Population (ADP) 1589 inmates
• Inmate Bookings – 1926 / Inmate Releases – 2088
• 10 Inmate vs. Staff Assaults with two resulting in injury to staff
• 14 Inmate vs. Inmate Assaults with four resulting in injuries to inmates
• 7 Inmate vs. Inmate Fights with 7 resulting in injuries to inmates

Behavioral Health Connect Program (BHCON) April 2019 statistics:
• Responded to 50 calls for service
• Provided services to 41 clients
• Attempted 11 follow-ups with clients
• 30 clients were treated on scene and provided mental health resources
• 4 clients were transferred to a local medical facility or psychiatric hospital
• 4 clients were arrested

Illegal and Black-Market Marijuana Enforcement April 2019 statistics:
• 9 Search Warrants and 12 Knock and Talks Compliance Checks
• 1,717 plants seized (Street Value of $1,717,000 at $1,000 per plant)
• 1.362 pounds of processed marijuana seized (Street Value of $4,767 at $3500 per pound)
• 0 arrests, 1 gun recovered, 25,736 cash seized
