Sheriff's Office Investigates Homicide/Suicide on North Curtis Road

On March 2, 2021, at approximately 6:13 PM, deputies were dispatched to the 5700 block of North Curtis Road to a shooting.

The Sheriff's Office has received intelligence of another phone scam.  The caller threatens the individual they have an active warrant and must bring money/money order/prepaid card and meet at a specific location to pay to clear up the warrant.

Effective at Noon on Monday, March 1, 2021, Stage One Fire Restrictions will be lifted for Unincorporated El Paso County.  We request you contact your local Fire Protection District or Department before engaging in any open burning that has been allowed in the past. 

On February 3, 2021, at approximately 4:58 PM, deputies were dispatched to the 4300 block of Loomis Avenue at a four-plex complex as callers reported hearing numerous gunshots.

On February 2, 2021, at approximately 1:28 PM, our Communications Center dispatched deputies to the Park and Ride located in the 1900 block of Woodmoor Drive, on a Disturbance call. 

The reporting party was a witness to a physical altercation involving 3 different people.

On January 14, 2021, at approximately 4:26 PM, Palmer Lake Police Department Officers and our deputies responded to a Shooting that occurred in the 700 block of Highway 105.

Upon arrival, officers and deputies found an adult female deceased from a gunshot wound.

The Sheriff's Office is looking for 15 year old runaway, Shanay Ringenoldus.

Shanay is described to have brown hair, blue eyes, is 5' 6", and weighs approximately 110 pounds.

She has a tattoo of a heart on her chest, pierced nose, pieced top and bottom of each ear.

On January 3, 2021, at approximately 2:35 PM, deputies responded to a Shots Fired call in the intersection of North Dartmouth Street and Landoe Lane.  

On Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at approximately 11:30 PM, two male suspects entered a property in the 400 block of De La Vista Circle and shot the homeowner.

The suspects fled from the area. The homeowner is recovering from his injuries.

The Sheriff's Office has received intelligence of a jury scam.  The caller threatens the individual they have missed Jury Duty, it's a Felony offense and need to pay fines in excess of $1,800.00.   After the money is deposited, they have to come to the Sheriff's Office to sign a waiver form.  

Over the course of the last year, there has been an overwhelming increase in unemployment fraud throughout the United States.  Losses are being reported in excess of hundreds of millions of dollars.

On Friday, May 15, 2020, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office began investigating a sexual assault which occurred in eastern El Paso County, Colorado.  The victim reported during the assault the suspects alluded to there being additional victims. 

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce we have changed video visitation vendors. This new system will be functional on laptops, tablets and smart phones; providing more opportunities to visit those who are incarcerated at the El Paso County Jail.

On December 28, 2020, a deputy was conducting follow-up on a Child Abuse case in the 7600 block of  Mortensen Road.

Items Stolen from Sheriff's Office Vehicle

On December 15, 2020, at 7:10 AM, a suspect burglarized a Coin Laundry business located in the 300 block of Main Street. He walked into the business, opened the breaker panel to turn off all breakers, then proceeded to the coin machine.

On November 17, 2020, between approximately 4:54 AM through 5:03 AM, a theft occurred at a business located in the 5800 block of Terminal Avenue. Two vehicles park near a 30 foot-long black enclosed trailer parked behind the business.

On November 16, 2020, between 4:45 AM through 5:30 AM, two suspects attempted to access vending and coin machines at a laundromat located in the 600 block of Peterson Road. 

On August 23, 2020, at approximately1:41 AM, the Sheriff's Office received a call regarding a shooting at a property in the 20000 block of Longhorn Point, located in unincorporated El Paso County, Colorado.

On November 27, 2020, between approximately 2:30 PM through 2:50 PM, a package theft occurred in the 5000 block of Old Stage Coach Road. The suspect vehicle drives up to the entrance of the driveway, exits vehicle, walks up to the victim’s porch and steals a package from it.

On November 21, 2020, at approximately 2:50 PM, deputies responded to the 900 block of Harbourne Street for a shots fired call.
