Ray served in the United States Army for 22 years and retired in Colorado Springs in 1999 after serving as the Deputy Provost Marshall at Fort Carson. He joined the Sheriff’s Office that same year and has enjoyed a diverse law enforcement career. His assignments include Detention Security, Detention Intake and Release, CALEA Accreditations, Administration, Human Resources, Investigations, Internal affairs, and as the Deputy Director of the Colorado Information and Analysis Center (CIAC).
Ray graduated Campbell University in 1986 with a bachelor’s in business administration and in 2018, earned a master’s degree in security studies from the Naval Post Graduate School. Ray is married and has twin boys both of whom earned the rank of Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America. Ray serves as a member of the El Paso County Retirement Board and as the Sheriff’s Office liaison to the Hugh Martin Scholarship Fund. He enjoys restoring cars and spends much of his free time hunting, fishing and enjoying all that the beautiful state of Colorado has to offer.
