Commander John David


John is a native of Colorado Springs that Graduated from Coronado High School.  After graduation he joined the US Navy as a Sonar Technician in 1992.  He spent the next four years in San Diego assigned to the USS Shiloh, a Guided Middle Cruiser.  After leaving the Navy in 1996, John moved back to Colorado Springs where he searched for his next career.

John began his Law Enforcement career in 1999 when he was hired by the Sheriff’s Office.  He spent his first three years with the office working Floor Security at the Criminal Justice Center.   John was transferred to the Patrol Division in 2002.  In 2004 he joined the SWAT Team where he began the first of what would be 12 years on the team and counting.  During his time in the Patrol Division John had assignments as a Patrol Deputy, School Resource Officer, Patrol Supervisor, Community Support Sergeant, Traffic Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Special Operations Lieutenant and now the Special Operations Division Commander.  His experience on Patrol and with the SWAT team allowed him to be involved in numerous high risk situations including the New Life Church Shooting and the Planned Parenthood Shooting. 

John has a wife and twin boys that enjoy a very active lifestyle.  They enjoy the outdoors and camping in places like Moab Utah.  John is an avid four wheeler and off road racer.  He currently competes with his Ultra 4 race car in the Best in the Desert racing series.
