Janet Huffor began her career in the public sector by serving as the 4th Judicial District Assistant Jury Commissioner from 1998-2001. She served on many volunteer committees within the court system and received recognition for her efforts from CACE (Colorado Association of Court Employees).
After working in the private sector for several years, Janet was hired by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office as a Detention Specialist. She then successfully completed the El Paso County Sheriff's Office POST Certified Training Academy becoming a Deputy Sheriff working in the Criminal Justice Center (CJC), serving as a DTO (Detentions Training Officer) and Background Investigator. In addition to serving as the Chief of Staff for Sheriff Bill Elder, Janet spends countless hours advocating for law enforcement and CSOC (County Sheriff’s of Colorado) in the State Legislature. Janet has received many letters of appreciation and commendations to include the Employee of the Month Award and the Life Saving Medal.
Since 2008, Janet has operated her own successful business. In addition, she has also dedicated her time to developing safety and security programs used today in many local churches and schools. She is a board member for the Pikes Peak Region Peace Officer’s Memorial and other community non-profit organizations. Janet is a graduate of the University of Colorado, obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration (BSBA), majoring in Organizational Management.
