Telephone Reporting System

General Information

The Telephone Reporting System (T.R.S.) serves as an option for members of the public who wish to report a crime where NO suspect information is available and NO evidence is present to collect.  In most of these cases, members of the public are encouraged to submit an Online Report via the “CopLogic System” which is detailed and contains a link at the bottom of this page.  For those members of the community who are not comfortable with online reporting or do not have access to the internet, T.R.S. reporting is an alternative to waiting for a deputy to respond in cases described above.  Examples of events which might be reported via the T.R.S. option include:

  • Mailbox damaged (vandalism)
  • Landscaping vandalized
  • Car damaged (other than crash or break in)
  • House egged
  • Trees toilet papered
  • Theft of License Plates

The T.R.S. function is a vitally important part of the Sheriff’s Office.  Few positions at the Sheriff's Office are faced with such a broad scope of responsibility involving telephone referrals, taking case reports and answering the myriad of questions from members of the public.  The Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing the very best in law enforcement services to the community we serve.  If a caller wishes to be personally contacted by a deputy and they are willing and able to wait for the deputy to respond to their location in order of priority given the current call volume, we will always send a deputy to take your report.  However, some members of our community are more than willing to complete their reports online via CopLogic or by phone via the T.R.S. Tech.

The T.R.S. is managed by one civilian employee who is designed to support and enhance the capabilities of the Patrol Division by providing an additional resource for the reporting of non-emergency crimes occurring within unincorporated El Paso County.

We are pleased to provide a new enhancement of service to our citizens of El Paso County which is our new Online Reporting System called CopLogic. Using this online citizen police report system allows you to submit a report immediately and print a copy of the case report for free.  To access this feature go to our online reporting page.

You can call T.R.S direct at (719) 520-7111. T.R.S is manned Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except legal holidays. Outside these hours you can contact our non-emergency dispatch number of (719) 390-5555 for additional assistance.  If this is an Emergency please call 911.
