On May 22nd, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Manitou Springs Police Department in responding to an emergency call which came into the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center, at approximately 7:39 pm.

At approximately 12:05 am, on May 20, 2023, a 76-year-old man died at a local hospital where he had been admitted on April 30, 2023, after the El Paso County Jail’s contracted medical staff sent the man to the hospital for treatment for a preexisting medical condition.

On October 19, 2020, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address in unincorporated El Paso County on a report of sex crimes against a juvenile.  The case was assigned to detectives of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit (SVU).

On Monday, April 10^th, Braden Taylor, DOB 2/18/07, ran away from his home in the 17000 block of Prospector Dr. in Peyton, Colorado.

It is believed he was traveling to Denver, or Parker, Colorado. Braden was in contact with his family until recently.

El Paso County Sheriff Joe Roybal released the following statement after a jury found Leticia Stauch guilty of murdering her 11-year-old stepson, Gannon Stauch:

Colorado Springs, CO- Recently, Sheriff Joe Roybal, along with other leaders from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, met with Angela Stevens, the President of the Colorado Springs Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

On April 19, 2023, members of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Specialized Patrol Unit (SPU), with assistance from the Metro Narcotics Unit, concluded a four-month investigation into the illegal cultivation, manufacturing and distribution of illegal black-market marijuana.  

On April 13, 2023, at about 12:52 a.m., a 911 call was received regarding a carjacking in the 1000 block of Palacio View in Colorado Springs. The reporting party’s mother was said to be held at gunpoint and the suspects took her vehicle. There were two suspects and at least one with a handgun.
