El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Three Burglary Suspects in Security Area

On August 20, 2019, at approximately 11:34 AM, deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 3700 block of Cresta Loma Circle.  The initial information received was that the homeowner arrived home to find three individuals in a silver vehicle parked inside their garage. Before fleeing on foot, the suspects attempted to leave in the vehicle causing damage to the homeowner’s vehicle and garage walls. The vehicle was later determined to be stolen.

Containment was set up immediately with the assistance of local law enforcement.  A notification was sent out to citizens advising them of law enforcement presence in the vicinity and asking them to stay inside their homes. Local schools were placed on Lockout.

A thorough search of the area was conducted with the assistance of Sheriff’s Office Patrol, SWAT, K9, Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) K9 and Fountain PD Drone.  At approximately 3:15 PM, the suspects were detained in the area of Villager Drive and Bridgehead Drive.

Albert Rael, DOB: 07/06/99, was booked into the El Paso County Jail on First Degree Burglary. Additional charges are pending.  A mugshot of Rael is attached to this media release.

Alejandro Jose Caraveo, DOB: 09/20/99, was booked into the El Paso County Jail on First Degree Burglary.  Additional charges are pending.  A previous mugshot of Caraveo is attached to this media release since he is still in the booking process.

The third suspect, a juvenile, was booked into the Spring Creek Youth Services Center.  Since the suspect is a juvenile, no additional information will be released.

We would like to thank Sheriff’s Office Patrol, SWAT, K9, Detectives, Crime Analysts, Colorado Springs Police Department K9 and Fountain Police Department for their assistance.
