Barricaded Suspect Taken into Custody Without Incident

Sep 23, 2016 - 5:40am

On Thursday, September 22, 2016, members of the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) responded to the area of 14400 North Peyton Highway in an attempt to locate David Aldrich, DOB: 08-14-84.  Aldrich had an active felony warrant for the charge of Theft from At Risk Adults.

Previous attempts to arrest Aldrich were unsuccessful.  At 5:30 PM, CRU members observed Aldrich get dropped off by a friend and walk inside the residence.  CRU members contained the residence and began calling to Aldrich via PA system for him to exit.  Neighbors approached CRU members and advised that Aldrich had firearms at the residence as he was outside shooting them within the past couple weeks.  After approximately 20 minutes of no response from Aldrich, the SWAT Team was activated and began responding.

At 6:39 PM, Aldrich exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.  CRU members obtained a search warrant for the residence and recovered two firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, military body armor and a live 25mm canon round.  Aldrich was booked into the Criminal Justice Center on the warrant, as well as additional charges for Possession of a Weapon by Previous Offender and two counts of Domestic Violence/Violation of Protection Order.  The 25mm round was turned over to EOD for disposal.

Aldrich's mug shot is attached to this Media Release.  We would like to thank the Sheriff's Office Rural Outreach Enforcement Team and Reserve Deputies that responded to help with scene control for the SWAT incident.
